Western Michigan University and Avidyne extend partnership with Brown Aviation Lease to enhance WMU's fleet of Cirrus aircraft for advanced pilot training.
Avidyne Corporation, a leading provider of integrated flight deck and safety systems for general aviation aircraft, announced today that, along with Brown Aviation Lease, they have extended their partnership with WMU by adding Avidyne's Synthetic Vision and dual Air Data/Attitude-Heading Reference System (ADAHRS) capability to WMU's fleet of Cirrus SR20 aircraft.

The Skyport will be hosting the experiment to gauge just how much the cost of fuel is hindering GA flight activity. If Skyport sees a tenfold increase in fuel sales during the month of October, that’s a pretty clear indication that fuel price is playing a big role. If sales are up only marginally, then maybe the price of avgas isn’t the barrier. The next obvious question will be, then what is?

On July 28th the first RedHawk Training Aircraft, a re-manufactured Cessna 172, debuted at Oshkosh flown in by EAA president Jack Pelton. The RedHawk is the first piston aircraft created specifically for flight training and consists of:
- Continental's fully certified Centurion turbo-diesel engine burning 4.5 gph of Jet-A
- Aspen Avionics' Evolution 2000 PFD/MFD (glass panel)
- Bendix-King's next-generation avionicsstack
- Brown Aviation's consumption-based pricing, with insurance provided by Starr Companies
- RedHawk's own interior and exterior upgrade to maximize longevity and usefulness

Brown Aviation Lease, LLC, a full-service aviation training equipment lessor, and Paradigm Flight Simulation, a manufacturer of Flight Simulation Training Devices, have developed an hourly cost jet simulation program.
Targeting collegiate aviation programs throughout the United States, the partnership will allow collegiate aviation programs to acquire state-of-the-art CRJ flight simulation training devices without upfront university capital or expensive monthly fees. The program features low hourly pricing and fixed hourly maintenance costs for lifetime of use.
